Graph Theory is Discrete Topology

I just realized that graph theory is basically just a discrete version of topology. Topology is about the connectivity of various continuous spaces. Graphs are about connections between discrete nodes. I know very little about topology, but this suggests some reasons why I might want to learn more about it.
