Structured Procrastination

A co-worker pointed me at a paper describing how to make procrastination into a productivity tool:

The observant reader may feel at this point that structured procrastination requires a certain amount of self-deception, since one is in effect constantly perpetrating a pyramid scheme on oneself. Exactly.

At one point in college, I developed a "Stages of Procrastination", similar to the "Stages of Grief" list. Structured Procrastination appeared as "Stage 3 Procrastination: Bargaining", because the essential essence is that you're making yourself feel better about not doing a task by performing some other task that has needed to be done for some time, like cleaning your desk to avoid studying for a test.

I've since identified a stage 4, but I'll have describe that for you later.
