I'm 27 years old today. I like the number 27 because it's 33. When I turned 26 last year I freaked out about how close I was to turning 30, because I had lost track of my age and thought I was actually 27. But now that I've had another year to adjust to the thought of being 27, I've made my peace with the idea of turning 30 eventually.

Happy birthday, Kim, and many happy returns. How was your 26th year - generally good? How about a quick summary of the important bits?
I hope you had a fun celebration.

I hope you liked 26 too, because it's the sum of n^3/2^n as n goes from 1 to infinity. :)

Posted by: Gaal Yahas at December 17, 2003 02:13 AMActually when I turned 27 I finished my 27th year, not my 26th. Off-by-one error :)
I'd say the year was more like a roller-coaster than just "generally good" or "generally bad". There were a few very good points, plus a couple very bad points. The public highlights would include going to Europe and buying a house, both of which I count as very good.
I think the roller-coaster feeling is a sign of having an interesting life that's not stuck in a rut. So the variability counts as a good thing in itself.
Posted by: kim at December 17, 2003 07:39 PMHappy Birthday! I was wondering how old you were the other day, and now I know! :)
To bad about the bad points :(. May the good points outnumber the bad the rest of your years!
