Spamming Google

Apparently Amerisave spams google. I've never seen Google spam before. Check out the top search results for "amerisave". A whole lot of the hits have urls that end with "amerisave_mortgage_rates.htm". Nearly all of these pages have "Amerisave Mortgage Rates" randomly interspersed in the text. My favorite one reads:

This site provides independant reviews on mortgage organizations and subjects such as Amerisave Mortgage Rates. We have no relationship to Amerisave Mortgage Rates , and merely attempt to provide unbiased info to the public.

Yeah right, unbiased info. I think I'll report it to Google. Note that I haven't linked to any of the spam pages. I don't want to up their PageRank.

Hi, I know this is a random post, but I used to work for Amerisave mortgage who you have on your site listed for spamming Google. That wasn't Amerisave that actually did that, it's a company called Ameriquest that was using many mortgage company names including Amerisave to drive traffic to their site (note the ameriquest banners on some of the sites). I myself contacted Google on numerous occasions to ask them to remove these sites (they use many other mortgage companies besides Amerisave, such as GMAC mortgage and Chase.) The reason I found your post, is I was researching ways to drive traffic to my new company through micro sites and knew this was a way to find someone who had done it successfully. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. Thanks.

Thanks for your 2 cents! I didn't realize that it wasn't Amerisave itself that was doing this spamming. I'm glad you mentioned it -- the spamming had been the only dark spot on my impression of Amerisave, so I'm glad to have it cleared up.
